For start 2015, we want to invite you to the big party of English to be held in Cáceres, in the Parrilla de Galarza on Friday 23 January at 21:30.

Where you can participate in a Ceilidh (Scottish dances), with live music and spend ¡A magical night to learn more about British culture and enjoy at the same time!

The ceilidhs are often part of special celebrations such as weddings, where they constitute the main entertainment in the back banquet ceremony.

The ceilidhs are a type of social gathering where participants gather to practice traditional Scottish dancing, dancing in pairs or in groups. Whether jumping to the beat of a Gay Gordons, turning Dashing White Sergeant with or turning on the dance floor to the sound of a Strip the Willow, is very easy to start dancing in these fun and simple dances.

Before the appearance of nightclubs, ceilidhs were held in almost all towns and cities in Scotland every Friday or Saturday night and was a meeting place for young people. Today, they are still very popular in rural Scotland, especially in regions where people speak Gaelic.

The most common instruments in music in ceilidhs are the violin, flute, tin whistle, accordion and bodhran.

How Ceilidh dance?

The most common training in ceilidhs is the "set". A set consists of a cluster of four warring couples. Each couple exchanged positions with the pair of front and partners to each other are also exchanged.

Also in the ceilidhs are conducted in pairs, dancing around the room in a circle. Couples can be fixed, or to make dance more social encounter, the woman can go changing partners, going to the next man in the circle at the end of each series of steps.

The most important of Ceilidh is to have fun, make friends and meet new people. In addition, unlike other traditional dances, there are no rules or labels in dress.

The key ingredients of a good ceilidh are enthusiasm of the participants and good musicians!

Hope it will be a fun night where raffles will be held to benefit the Divertéa Association for Aid for People with ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) whose first prize is a Authentic KILT, and other prizes as Malt Whisky, etc.
