Participants will need at least an upper-intermediate level of English (B2/B2+).
Course summary
This course will explore the very nature of humanistic teaching and what is behind it. We will firstly go over the main principles of humanistic thinking as outlined in psychology by Rogers, and Maslow.
We will then focus on the work of Moscowitz, Stevick and Ronvolucri to look at the strategies that can utilized to apply the theory to the practice.
The main goal is to address the needs (cognitive as well as affective) of the human being in front of us, foster motivation and encourage continuous development of students and teachers alike.
In this slightly dehumanised world of growing bureaucracy and technological advancement, we will focus on creating a teacher- and student-friendly environment by making relations and emotions an integral part of the learning and teaching process.
