Dun Laoghaire is a beautiful seaside town just 15 minutes from the center of Dublin, originally it was a small fishing village, but due to its proximity to the capital and its seaport, the last few decades has developed a lot.
Some of its most important attractions are the National Maritime Museum of Ireland, which occupies a 19th century church originally dedicated to sailors, where a large number of marine objects are exhibited.
In its maritime port you can see several fishing boats every day, people practicing water sports, and also many people enjoying a walk along its promenade.
Another place worth visiting is The People's Park which was created as a Victorian garden, this garden is surrounded by wrought iron railings, and within this enclosure you will find beautiful gardens and flowers, if you visit it on a Sunday you will have the opportunity to see the food market set up by local farmers.
More historical places are the James Joyce Museum-Tower, famous for its appearance in the opening scenes of the novel Ulysses, this place offers stunning panoramic views of the Bay of Dublin.
Dún Laoghaire is also home to a host of quirky shops and boutiques, such as the Naughton’s Booksellers, a bookstore that is a true treasure with more than 20,000 old books.
For all this and many other attractions Dun Laoghaire becomes a very interesting place for learning English in Ireland.
