Teachers course (Experience Ireland) in Ennis
The Experience Ireland programme is an innovative cultural programme for teachers which includes instruction in the latest theories and methodologies in English language teaching, alongside an introduction to the key cultural aspects of Irish society and an opportunity to improve core EFL skills. It is designed to help teachers both of children and adults, to bring new techniques to the classroom and learning experience. It will develop a deeper understanding for the teacher of Ireland’s literature, art, history and music.
This practical course is aimed at teachers of all levels who are seeking to enrich their English skills and to explore creative teaching methodologies in an Irish cultural context. All teachers are given a needs analysis questionnaire to help us to provide a stimulating and relevant programme which matches their personal needs and cultural interests.
The Experience Ireland programme combines an introduction to the key cultural aspects of Irish society with the opportunity to improve teachers core English Language Teaching skills through the application of the latest research, theories and methodologies to their classroom situation. The topics include developing learner autonomy and creativity in the classroom; using the internet and IT as learning tools in the language classroom; teaching grammar in context using authentic materials; and using drama and song in the language classroom.
The maximum number of participants in this course is 8.
Ireland is internationally renowned as a land of saints and scholars and no other country of its size has had such a profound cultural influence on the world. Here is an opportunity to gain an appreciation of this remarkable country whilst updating your teaching skills and improving your English through interaction with native speakers.
Experience Ireland is offered as a one, two or four week course. It includes:
An introduction to the great writers of Ireland (such as James Joyce, WB Yeats, Oscar Wilde and Samuel Beckett) and the tradition of literature in Ireland.
An overview of the role that music plays within Irish society and the influence of traditional and current Irish music throughout the world.
An introduction to the history of Ireland and the unique archaeology of the West of Ireland.
Sessions on the latest theories and methodologies in the field of English language teaching.
Optional classes in the core English language skills tailored to the learner’s specific language level.
Cultural excursions and tours to one of the most unique environments in the world – The Burren – and weekend excursions to other areas of significant beauty throughout Ireland.
The opportunity to mix with local people through the College’s homestay programme.
There will be a mixture of formal classroom teaching, group and pair work, seminars and review sessions throughout the course.

Where the Teachers course (Experience Ireland) will be taught in Ennis?
Our school Prize English is located in the small city of Ennis, at only 20 minutes drive from Shannon airport and 30 minutes from the stunning Moher cliffs.
The school offers a pleasant and welcoming atmosphere, due to its modest size and the uncongested area in which it is located.
It was established 20 years ago and is officially recognized by the Irish Education Authority.
You can take a general English course or a Business English course if you prefer, as well as doing one of our intensive exam preparation courses.
We are particularly proud of our Family English programme which involves the perfect learning conditions for each member of the family from the youngest child to the adult parents.
Everybody does their main language course content in a compatible morning timetable, and in the afternoons the whole family takes part in our social and cultural programme, where they get a privileged insight into Irish life and culture, and where they have great fun taking part in our physical and intellectual tasks.
The family has an ideal opportunity to make new friends with others from many different countries, using English as the language of communication.
We teach our students about Ireland, having them learn Irish dance, poetry, music and art. Our teachers are all qualified and experienced and they take part fully in all our activities making it a real English led immersion programme.

- The fees must be paid by 21 days before the start date of the course in order to finalise your inscription and to be assured of your place on the course and in the accommodation.
- All bank charges must be paid by the student.
- There is no reimbursement of the course fees or of any other service contracted, in the case cancellation of the course by the student once the course is underway.
- There is no refund for late arrival, absence or early departure due to transport problems or for any other reason once the course is underway.
