METHODOLOGY AND LANGUAGE FOR SECONDARY TEACHERS in Canterbury
This Methodology and Language Course in Canterbury is aimed at Secondary School Teachers. The course is 22.5 hours per week in class and has the double objective of putting trusted and innovative methodology into practice in our classrooms as well as improving our foreign language learning.
Objectives: To Adapt the teaching of English to the needs of the pupils, create and adapt exercises from text books as well as activities with different objectives and learning levels, and to encourage independent and autonomous learning styles in education.
The aims of the programme include:
• Improve language for classroom management and for making presentations
• Improve your ability to explain topics in English
• Ways to present and practise vocabulary
• Adapt materials for different integrated teaching uses
• Investigate topics on-line
• Using music and images in classroom teaching
• Creating your own materials and lessons
• Multiple intelligences and different teaching styles
• Motivating the group, pair work and other dynamics
• Lesson planning
• The analysis of tables, graphs and diagrams
Pre-course preparation:
-Four weeks before the course begins, each participant will send a plan of their teaching development outlining their objectives to be achieved by the end of the course.

As well as the 22.5 hours in class per week, participants have the opportunity of attending an additional 10 hours of workshops, seminars and activities from a range of many topics such as pronunciation techniques, the use of new technologies, Yoga, Tai Chi, storytelling, drama techniques, British culture, creative writing, or Salsa.

Our partner school Prize English School Pilgrims in Canterbury, has two centres, one of them in a historic Medieval building in the centre of the city, which is one of the oldest buildings used for English language teaching in the UK, although the interior is completely modernised with the latest technology in language teaching.
The other centre uses the facilities of the University of Kent and is surrounded by splendid gardens and is only 20 minutes walking distance from the centre of the city. In the University of Kent there is access to wonderful sports facilities, as well as cinema, theatre, a library, shops, banks and chemists etc.
